Default moving DRL function to custom LEDs

here are my requirements:

- disable the DRL (50% high beam), but have an LED strip turn on instead. This would still have a DRL effect, but with a nicer looking light

- have LED strip running when the regular HIDs are on

- have LEDS running when high beams are turned on

- NOT have DRL light on dash.

So far, the only solution i can think of (but not tested), is just pulling the DRL fuse, and wiring up the LEDs strips to any accessory power.

Is there any way to 'divert' the DRL signal to the LEDs, but have everything else function as normal?

The fuse may only supply power for the actual lights, or if our cars actually have a DRL module, not the light on the dash. Being that I have a 00 I'm not sure where the dash light is, but if it is in the cluster it would be hard to actually turn if off.
With that said, the only way I can think of is pulling the bulb or going to the DRL module and finding out which wire controls the dash light. Once you find that wire, you can see if it requires a 12v signal or a ground signal to turn the light off and jump a line (using which ever it requires) to turn the light off all the time.
