My Audio Setup Lots of Pix
explanation as PM'ed...
just in case anyone else is interested in doing this...
first - the difference between parallel and series:
ok - series and parallel
as you can see - series goes from amp+ to sp1+ from sp1- to sp2+ from sp2- to amp-
this would have to be with the amp setup for mono. to really tell you how to configure the amp for mono, i'll need to know what MTX 5 channel amp we're talking about... i'm guessing it's the Thunder 895?
this is the manual for the MTX Thunder 895. on the output panel layout, you can see that it shows how to mono bridge using the L+ as the positive and the R- as the negative.
so, w/o rewiring your speakers, you'll have to do this... keep the L+ on the amp. pull the L- and R+ off the amp and twist them together. tape liberally.
and that should do it... you'll still be getting 50 Wrms / channel to each speaker (the rear bridges to 200Wrms x 1 at 4 ohms. at 8 ohms, that should be 100Wrms for both speakers. 100Wrms / 2 speakers = 50 Wrms / speaker.) , but now they will not change when you run balance right to left, since they are playing an actual combined/blended signal of the right and left together...
the fader should still adjust the front to rear blend normally.
the way i used to adjust rear to front balance for cars, was to roll the fronts all the way up. slowly move the fader back until you notice the rears. note where that point is... then roll the fader all the way back, and roll to the front until you can't hear the rears anymore. note where that point is. you'll want to set the fader around those two points, to best match your taste.
