Default My planned audio setup..

Hey fellas,
I'm putting together a system and i have a pretty good idea of what i want... however even with the planned setup, i'm wondering if the noise from the exhaust and intake will affect the sound quality greatly... i have a 70mm T1R single exit exhaust without a silencer an amuse header as well as a CAI intake.

My planned audio setup is as follows:
Alpine 9886 HU
Focal 165KR
JL Slash V2 450/4 amplifier
JL W6V2 10" with trunk enclosure

Would the mentioned system be loud enough to play over the engine noise? I know road noise will degrade it somewhat but if i'll still be able to enjoy music while driving (no WOT) i want to go ahead and make the purchases. Any feedback is greatly welcomed. Thanks!

i'm honestly not the biggest fan of the TNK tweeter from the 165KR model...i'm running a 165KRX3 setup currently and found the TN53K to be great for the highs (I've compared both). I believe that the 165KRX2s carry this tweeter. The 165KRX2 may also be better for your mid-range too..I feel you may be running slightly bass heavy with the current setup.

Thanks for the reply! As nice as the krx2 sounds it may be going beyond my budget for the audio setup, but i will take this into consideration. Any other inputs?

kove4life - sorry i hope you don't feel like i'm just dismissing your opinion. If anything... what other speaker setup would you recommend within the same price range as the KRs that would fill in the midrange nicely? The krx2s are almost 1/2 times more the price of the KRs. Thanks for you help

im actually planning to get the KRX3 for my setup as well, was thinking about mounting the tweeter and midrange in the "A" pillar. would like to know how you mounted yours.

i actually went with discretion for my setup and custom mounted my 4 inch mid and 1 inch tweeter next to each other, right where the old tweeter used to be located (I had to make a custom grill for this that protruded outward a little, but maintained the appearance of the oem one). i didn't want to mess with the integrity of the A pillar. But as long as you get your mid range and tweeter right next to each other, your sound quality will be much sharper.

How much are you getting the 165KRs for vs. a 165KRX2 set? This is preference on my behalf but I prefer a strong component setup to an expensive subwoofer.

Also I might check out some of the other high-end components from these brands...diamond audio, image dynamics, dynaudio, and soundstream

go to advanced car creations in garden grove.

there is such a high mark up on car audio equipment it's ridiculous...before i settled on my krx3, i actually purchased my krx2 at this car audio spot for roughly 695

so everything is a lot more "affordable" than you think...a good way to gauge this is to check ebay to see how much the equipment is going for new.

best of luck and pm me if you have any questions!
