Thanks all, quite happy with it myself. V1 all the way and worth every penny IMHO for the things the other guys don't give you.

As per one email I got, I wanted to add to the install instructions that the ground I used is just above where the power splitter is mounted under the dash. You'll see a copper colored bolt with a bunch of other ground wires leading to it, use that one.

Several successful warnings in the past few days with the V1. CHP on the GG Bridge and a few local cops. In fact one turned on their radar just as I past to check my speed. I love empowerment.

I found the copper bolt with other ground wires to it and tried to attach the V1 power adaptor's black lead to it but I couldn't get it in with the tools I had at home. I think I should solder a bigger lug on than the standard V1. What did you do?
All I did was use the included flat prong lead and wedged it between all the other grounds and the bolt after loosening/tightening.

Also, when I gave it a close look I wasn't completely happy about cramming the wire into the rubber near the windshield. How did that work out.
No sweat at all... there was no cramming really... after looping it behind the driver's visor, behind the top latch and into the hole, the rubber weatherstripping lifts up and the wire just slipped right in. All the excess wire is zip tied under the dash. Just making sure we're talking about the same area:

Looks good but isn't that just an invitation to some punks to break in?

For what? if I park in a questionable area (Mall, low income, public garage, whathave you), I unplug the V1 and stick it somewhere safe out of view. Literally just takes a few seconds to get it off/on.

Hi: I did not want to start a new thread on this. I am planning to get a Valentine 1 in next couple of months. Does it need to be mounted in a special way - like what's pictured above? What is the instruction and hardware provided by the manufacturer? I don't want to mess with the interior of the car.

Thanks for the pics. I need to do something about the horns. The detector will come later. I'm thinking about a more portble unit like a rechargable. Wife and I travel from car to car alot. It would be easier.
