My Valentine1 Install (pics)
Just wanted to update the folks that have been giving me advice. Finally set up V1 and the remote display just like Loki instructed. It's not too difficult, and yet not easy either. There is so little space to work in. I brought a camping light to give some lighting. It turned out that all three free male adaptors on my fuse box was taken up by the optional alarm system. ( I am guessing that is what those wires are for. ) So I end up using the "wiring harness connector" provided in the V1 package to "share" the free male adaptor that is off/on according to the ignition. I was able to get the V1 to work. I will know if everything is in working order soon enough. I also had problem turning the grounding bolt. The monkey wrench that I was working with just was not able to get the job done. Thanks again for all the help.

Can anyone suggest, or point me to a 12 volt switched wire to hardwire the V1 into? The above post discussed a free male connector, but it looks like the hardwire kit with the V1 also has a male unit for the positive lead. Any advice is helpful.
I've got some pictures around here somewhere - will try to post em up. If you come to Bone Daddy's later tonight with Insomniak and anyone else that comes up there - I can show you where you plug it into.
I only have my Miata up here, and the S2000 is down in Austin.
If you can't make it tonight and want to get together for a drink sometime this week or anything, heck, I'm up for anything to get me out of the hotel room.

Schatten,
I'd love to, but I am heading out New York tonight, back in on Thursday, but am planning on heading out to SXSW Thursday afternoon (hence the need for a detector). Since you are from Austin, here is a question for you. We were thinking about taking an indirect route (ie back roads) from Dallas to Austin. Any suggestions on a good drive?

get one of these - (less than a buck)

snip the cable that came with the v1

connect the connector up with some splicers and a patch it up
then hook it up in the third slot as indicated. it works, you'll see it once you've seen those direct connectors to match em up to

p.s. - regarding nice drives, I hear if you take some road to 183, there is a little stop over there. But with the 3 hour trip that I take so often, I just want to get it over with most of the time.

but there are some roads here - try to hit Llano and stop by Coopers and get some BBQ, that's what we did last weekend on our drive. Even further South - 16 and 337 - INCREDIBLE!

Loki,
You rule! Great pics and instructions on hardwiring V1. I've been wanting to do it for awhile now, and finally I got it done today. For the longest time, I just ran the wire down the weather striping on the windshield, under the door trim, and behind the back of my seat to the cigarette lighter. My setup wasn't too bad. You could see a few inches of the wire by the visor, and then you see the power adapter by the lighter. Thanks to you I have my cigarette lighter back.

I read this thread and was wondering why the pics weren't working... Jeebus this thread is over 10 years old. That makes me so sad that the Interweb has been around me so much and I can't seem to get past porn and S2ki.
