I'm on my way to Amsterdam and hope to find a European version of an MP-3 Alpine deck as well as the correct adapter to allow use of the dash controls.

The adapter is, I think a KCE-865b or something very similar.

The deck had a different model number than the U.S. version CDA -7894. I think it is the CDA-7894RB.

Any comments or advise? Returning them probably wont be an option, so I want to buy what will work. Below is what I already have installed. Only the door Infinity's are powered through the amp, and the rears are currently being driven by the HU. I expect to keep this same setup with the new amp.

Have a look at http://www.alpine-europe.com and click on "Products".

Any models with a little steering wheel logo next to them can be used with the KCE-865B adapter. You can see the logos larger with explanations by going to "Symbol details" under the products drop-down.

The CDA-7894R looks to be compatible but looking here (http://www.alpine-europe.com/2002/common/s...eer_forward.htm) the KCE-865B no longer appears!

I suggest it's best you get in touch with Alpine support, I had to use them once and they are pretty good. Their email address (in the UK they speak English there ) is customer_enquiries@alpine-electronics.co.uk

Domo Arigato.

I see you have this setup already. How do you like it?

(I noticed Lucid referred to it as a KCE-865bs and prior to that I had only heard of KCE -865b. I'll send them an inquiry.)

I will use the external amp that I already have just for the door speakers...it's a two channel. The Lucid rears are low power speakers and I am hoping that the 60 watt, (30rms), alpine HU will drive them nicely while allowing me to drive the door speakers with the amp. That is the setup I am using now with the stock HU.

Keith, are you also using the KCE-865b adapter?

Anyone know if these products, the 7893r and KCE-865b, are available in Amsterdam?

Yes I have the 7893R with the KCE865b. Works like a charm. Truthfully, the one AM station I actually listen to comes in just fine on MW.

The products should be readily available in Amsterdam, at least the head unit. Just make sure you get the form to get the VAT back, otherwise your going to pay a lot more!

I know if you can't find the KCE-865b, Lucid still has some he's probably looking to unload.
