Im just about finished building my sub box, and want to finish it up this weekend, but I ran into a problem mounting the amp. The amp I have fits into the spare tire nicely, so I cut out a round piece of mdf to mount it on the inside of the spare tire. But then I realized there is no way to fasten the spare tire in place in the trunk with the bolt thing, because there is no way to reach it under the amp board.
Anyone have a solution? The only thing I can think of is to just not screw down the spare tire and let it just lay in place, but then it might slide around or rattle...
Take a few pieces of 1/2" MDF and make a 'U' shape out of them. Use fairly wide soild pieces. Once you have the 'U' shape drill a hole in the middle of the bottom piece, so that the spare tire bolt will fit though but is nice and snug. now screw the tire down with the MDF 'U' acting like a spacer. then just screw the amp mounting board(MDF) in place. However I suggest you push the amp towards the back so that you can get your hand under the amp just incase you need to unscrew it.
Assuming I understand correctly, it seems really tight wedging your hand over the tire and then underneath the amp to reach the bolt. I'll give it a try though, I got a lot of extra mdf.
Thats what I'm thinking. Just have the MDF board the amp will screw to sit on the edge of the tire and have the other end just past the middle of the spares rim. That way the amp will be soild and you can still get your hand in there
Nice drawing BTW
My set up is ummm... well... a little bigger

and to think I just ripped that all out and tossed it the panels not the equipment
