Default Need Head Unit / Controller Advice

I am in a good situation. I have not purchased a head unit, speakers, or a controller yet. Why is that good you may ask? Because I can buy whatever I need to get the best solution. I just need advice as to what that is...

Here is what I really care about...

First, I have heard that some of the controllers have a significant lag. I would find that sufficiently irritating so I am looking for a controller that does not have lag.

Second, I do not want to lose any of the functionality of the buttons that I have on the dash.

Finally, I want a decent head unit that has good sound. I know that Kenwood is good but I have heard that the DMASK function causes a problem with the radio door that we have. I like Alpine too, not sure if this unit is good to integrate with the available controllers.

Let me know what you have, let me know what you think....

Thank you very much!

The Multi DCI through www.lucidauto.com is the best option for Clarion, Kenwood, Blaupunkt, Sony,Pioneer and Alpine decks. More functions, no lag, no programming. Pick a deck you like and wire this up. Good to go.

I've got an alpine HU, Boston Acoustics 65 Pro speakers mounted in the doors with an Eclipse amplifier where the spare used to be. It sounds magnificant at every volume. Cost about 2g installed. Completely stealth except the HU of course, i have all the functions with a small lag, but they only work with the radio door closed. They run off an infared eye located in the enclosure and it needs complete darkness to send the signal. When it's over, just reach down, not a big hassle.

i have an Alpine head and Lucid/Modfry's DCI - i can't recommend the DCI enough as a full function (and then some) emulator for the stock controls.

They say there are no dumb questions, just inquisitive idiots...

I am trying to understand the magnitude of what I need to do...
(I like the instructions on the lucid site)
Do you suggest changing out the speaker wire or is using the stock good enough? (I've bought a lot of monster cable in my life and I don't think it does THAT big of a difference)

I do like the Kenwood but I understand the DMASK is a problem with the S2K door that covers the head unit. Anyone with advice on that particular situation? Can DMASK be disabled for this particular situation?

How is the VSS accomplished? Does it sense a change in voltage and automatically up/down the volume?

Okay... enough of my pointless dross for now.

I have a Alpine 7998 headunit, Alpine CHA-S634 changer, Focal utopias, Boston RX45, WLAURENT RF HX2 sub, and JL 500/5 amp with DJ Qube's audio control. Here is a link to information on his unit. DJ I highly recommend this controller no lag.

I have an Alpine 7894 HU and the Lucid Multi DCI. There are no delays, more functions and the install is very easy.

One other thing. The turnaround time from Lucid is very quick. I got my order (rears and multi DCI) in a week.

Take care.
