hey guys i currently have a alpine 9857 installed in my S but the problem is is wen i close the s2k cover it hits the head unit. i didnt install it myself cuz i dont know how and i was wondering if u guys could help me. there is also another problem where the lights of the head unit start flickering and sumtimes it'll turn off i can still hear the music but the whole display shuts off..any help? please help it'll be greatly appreciated..thanks
It's likely that whoever installed your head unit didn't pull the wiring harnesses out from behind the headunit enough for it to mount flush. It also sounds like they didn't solder all of the wires and insulate them well enough. You need to remove the head unit and check the wiring. When you reinstall it, make sure you get behind it and move the wires to one side or the other and tuck them in. On that unit, the door should close. The HU is easy to install, so you should be able to do this yourself with instructions.
Have a look at this.

Ya, I have a 57 and there is not problem with the door closing, I would assume wires are in the way. I installed the HU myself for my first install ever, outside of the electrical portion, the actual panel removal and screwing down the HU is a peice of cake.
Check to make sure the mounting sleeve for the HU was removed and the factory s2k mounting brackets were applied. The installer may have easily put the mounting brackets in the wrong place. Slide them a bit further up on the HU will allow the HU to slide a bit further back.
