Default Need help with box size for sub.

I getting this sub to go on the s but now i need help with the size box i need to make for it. The smaller the better as i'm putting it in a very tight space. I think that these new woofer slim desing is perfect but I want to make sure the box is suitable. Here are the recomeded sizes *Small Enclosure Use (0.35 ~ 0.7 Cubic Feet) I have no idea what that means!! Around what sizes would be safe? consirering the height room i have is about 7". Also, should i make it a sealed box or ported? Thanks for your help in advance.

edit> here is the link to more info on them.

You answered your own question.....make an enclosure that has between .35-.7 Cubic Feet of internal volume.

This will be a sealed box. Ported boxes typicaly need considerably more internal volume.

If you want to make the box as small as possible....make it .35 Cu/Ft internal volume, use dampening material in the box to cut down on boominess as this is likely when using a sealed box on the lower end of the size range.

Sealed boxes are typically 1/2 the size of a ported boxes. The lower range is usually SPL (sound pressure range) point and the higher range is the SWL (sound quality level) range. Picking something in the middle will give you a good balance of SPL and SQL.

A benefit of the smaller enclosure in the trunk is SPL - you need some sound pressure to get the boom out of the boot. The drawback, other than loosing some SQL, is that you need to apply more power. Some may consider this a plus since a sub can typically handle a little more power in a smaller sealed box than in a larger one (for what it is rated at). Of course this requires clean power - a junk amp will provide crap power that will tear a sub up.

Go to www.darksidesubs.com and order one of the V2's. I have one that I just installed Saturday and it fits great on the side of trunk (drivers side). I'll guarantee you'll be happy with fit and finish. Customer service is also superb.

Someone here won't plug his own company but I will.

Thanks again for all your help Mr. Laurent.
