Need help choosing components
I'm stuck between two components, maybe you guys can lead me a certain direction? I'm leading more towards the Focals, but not really sure why.
Diamond Audio D6 D661s or Focal 165A1

Diamond Audio D6 D661s or Focal 165A1

i am currently running the diamond hex series with 120 rms from my amp. I feel that they actually do not produce a good amount of mid bass for the power that i am pushing.
also i am running the aluminum tweeters which i regret and wish i got the silk domes instead. the treble is loud and clear but sometimes very ear peircing sharp.

^^ True story.
I'm pushing my Diamond Hexes with 65WRMS to each speaker (130W each side) and they sound fantastic. Very warm sound with the silk tweeter and plenty of midbass.
I can't compare them to those Focals because I haven't heard the Focals. However, Focal makes an excellent speaker.

Same here, I have 165KPS' (very good sounds with a JL 300/2 amp) but I can't compare to Diamond speakers. Get to a car gathering so you can hear them. I can say that adding sound damping to the doors made a big difference in the bass frequencies, not that I could live without a sub anyway.
I've heard several focal models from 150 to $500 sets and and they all have the "harsh" and "sharp" sound to them. even at low tweet settings.
I like smooth and tight mid bass sounds.
I have my diamond 600s Hex's running off the Kenwood deck and I'd have to say i'm impressed. (it's been too cold to do an amp install)
My current feeling is that Hexes have much more "warm" sound to them. much like the Infinity Perfect 6.1's
oh and the fact that I didnt' need additional spacers to install Hexes were huge bonus.

I think you guys are right about the Focals sounding a little harsher than other choices I listened to (e.g. Boston Acoustics) but the high freq's are where our S2K ravages the tunes. I figured it'd sound better on the move.
