Thanks for the replies. I've omitted the Diamonds from my list as I've heard that they lack mid-bass from several sources. Now considering:

Focal 165A1
Image Dynamics CTX65CS
ARC Audio FD6000
Rainbow SLC 265

 

Wow, you heard they LACK mid-bass?

I ran my Diamond Hexes for 6 months without a sub b/c they had enough midbass to handle that...

The Diamonds are known for their midbass...

 

same.. I run without a sub right now.. and it hits pretty hard and loud.

if you are set on removing Diamonds I'd recommend you put in the Infinity Perfect 6.1's.. They are great also I've had them on my MY02 and they sounded great.

 

Listen to the hertz hks165 as well as morel tempo 6. Similar price range in what you are trying to stay in. I run the morel tempo 6 without a sub right now and midbass is great. No sound deadning or anything as well.
