Unhappy Need Help ! Noob at ICE

Hi,

i was wondering if someone could help me,

i have a Alpine V12 MRV T301 amp that was given to me. I was intent on installing this with an Alpine 9881R head unit and Type R 6.5" components. Would the amp be powerful enough to run the speakers or will the head unit alone be better?

greatly appreciate any help you can give me, the S is desperate for a new sound system as the standard one is pants.

I have ordered the fitting kit for the speakers off Lucid so that should make the speaker install a bit easier!!!

Thanks in advance

That amp is 2x50RMS I believe, that's enough to drive them, they can take more but that will work. Whether it's loud enough for you or not isn't something we can answer.

It's actually 2x30 at 12v, 2x50 at 14.4.

It'll still technically work. You may want to look for something bigger though.

IMO putting an amp makes it lowder w/less distortion. A HU w/o a amp, is well, distortion.

You get more out of the amp at 14 v. how would you change the power from 12v to 14v ??? is it something the installer can do?

any recomendations on a more suitable amp to run the type R speakers with 9881R Alpine HU, will need an amp at some point as well so gonna need at least 3 outs ????

Thanks

THe 50W quoted for your head unit is a little misleading, don't expect more than 15-17w per channel.

So yes, it will be louder with the amp.

As for the voltage thing, when a car is running, you are around 14V, that's why there's two numbers, but you'll never really see a steady 14.4V in the car..
