Need Help With Sub Setup
So I installed half my system today. I already installed my 9833, then I ran all the cables for my Soundstream VGA500.4 and hooked up a JL Stealthbox. Everything seems fine except the gains. I was expecting to have to set them low since the VGA will be putting out a lot of power bridged to 3 ohms. But to my surprise I had to set the gains at least to 2/3 to hear anything. I played with the Alpine for a while, set the Sub to +15 and still can barely hear it. Any suggestions? The Soundstream manual is a complete joke.
The RCA Open LED is on, but the manual contradicts itself on what it means. In the description it says it lights up if the RCAs are not ground correctly, but then in the table, it says it lights up if they are ground correctly???

Is there a Bass setting? There is the sub out level (it's running off this), there is the crossover setup (which would be the low setting) there is Bass Focus (which is time correction), then there is a Parametric EQ (which helps, but is a poor fix).
I know that a lot of Alpines are like this, but the 9833 is not. I have no Treble or Bass controls, just the Parametric EQ.
The other ways to change the distribution is to lower the front crossover output (High) or increase the Subwoofer out. I have heard people complain that the Alpines have a week sub out signal, but this is ridiculous!
Going to try swapping channels tonight to see if that helps. Again, this may be the amps fault, seeing as how the documentation doesn't describe what anything does.

Is your amp set to high level inputs? It suonds like you have a crossover set to only send bass (from your HU) and your amp is set to accept full range signals, effectively cancelling eachother out and giving you only the left over. Another member recently had the same issue and flipping his input switch fixed the problem.
Thanks, unfortunately that isn't the problem. One thing I did find out though is that setting the crossover on the 9833 doesn't do anything unless you adjust the slope! Was wondering why a full range signal was going to my amp.
I will call Crutchfield later today to see if they have any advice. There wasn't any bass with the stock system either, so maybe it's a defect in the head unit, although that would be rather odd.

Well I got a hold of a person at Crutchfield and he happened to have the same deck and noticed the same lack of Bass response. He said he has been looking for 3 days for the Bass controls and hasn't found them yet
I am installing and amping my Boston Pros today so we will see if that helps at all.
