Default Need help wiring foglight kit on my S2000

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums but I need your expertise. I've had my S2000 for a couple of years now and decided to do my first mod. After searching the threads on foglights I found alot of interest and talk, but could'nt find where too many people had actually done this. Last weekend I installed the kit from the Honda Odessy and it fits. All I had to do was shave a little on the black trim to make it fit better.
The problem is that the connectors for the harness under the dash are different. The Odessy connector has a 14 pin and the S2000 is a 16 pin. The plug for the fuse box also looks different. I don't want to ruin anything so I need someone that is experienced with this. Thanks The kit only costs 199.50 through handa-accessories so its not to bad of an investment. You can also download the instructions to see what's involved, but it was'nt that hard. Thanks again for any advise.

That's pretty cool. Never thought to check.

It is a similar configuration as a horn installation. Do a check for that.

I would think you could by pass the harness somehow. Hopefully someone with the electrical service manual for the S2000 will be able to answer the question. I would consider moving this post or reposting in the S2000 Talk section. Someone who reads that is bound to know.

I hope you can figure it out and let everyone know what you need to do! It looks nice and I would like to get foglights myself!

Check the MId-Atlantic forum. Someone has it there just can't remember the thread.

I think that was the person that had emailed and said they had junked the included harness. I want this to end up looking like a professional installation so I'm planning on using the defroster switch from the 2002 model to fit the right side of the dash. It might have a different picture on it but it will look like it's meant to go there. This might also require a different connector. Thanks again for any help.

What about mounting it under the dash? It will be out of the way and you won't give up with switch location, incase you purchase a hardtop or purchase a not-yet-produced glass window replacement.

I just stood between my S2K and my MDX (basically an Odyssey). The 2 supplied harnesses will not work on the S. They are too short. You are going to have to do a custom job. I would offer to help, but you're a bit out of my way.

Tips:
  • You will want to pull the bumper for this. It is very easy. About an hour's work. It will save you several hours of under the car work. Instructions for taking the bumper off are in the light clearing discussions. (While your at it you can clear your turn signals )
  • You can still make it look professional, by reusing the conenctors (when possible) and using a wire wrap from an amplifier installation kit. Route harnesses along other electrical installations. Use heat shrink on connector ends.

Thanks for the replies, keep them comeing. I've allready cut out and installed the foglights and the harness in the engine bay without taking off the bumper. That was the easy part for me, just need to wire the other harness under the dash.
