Default Need Opinion on Ipod Mini Install location

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide where to mount my ipod mini with dension cradle. Either next to the shifter with the proclip mount or perhaps in the console compartment. Note: haven't installed it yet, but the Dension IceLink allows you to change tracks and adjust volume through the head unit.

Shifter location pros: Very easy access to ipod and its controls. Can see the ipod's screen, etc.
Shifter location cons: Clutters the interior a bit, looks, well, like an aftermarket mount.

Compartment pros: clean and stealthy. Interior will look stock!
Compartment cons: access to the ipod is greatly reduced. Wouldn't like to have to look down and fiddle with it while driving. Takes up the whole compartment rendering it useless for anything else. Can't see the ipod's screen etc.

Personally, I don't like the look of a lot of doodads and gadgets in the interior. IMO it takes away from the design of it (although this Dension setup is the cleanest one i've come across). But I do like how accessible the ipod is. Its nice.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Marco

If it's going to be hidden, put it in the glovebox on the lid. I keep mine under the elastic strap and it works out pretty well. I'm keeping it that way until I can check out the Alpine iPod solution.

If you want it hidden on your's I would put it in the second photo. I wish the pre-2004's had that sliding door versus the flip up cupholder.

Still can't see the display that well there though.
