Default Need some Audio help...

Maybe my search function isnt working, but I looked for an hour for the info I need, and cannot find it. Maybe someone can guide me, or answer the questions?

2005 Model year.

Putting in Pioneer deck, and not worrying about the audio controls for now. There are a few connections that I cant seem to figure out.

1). First is dimmer.... my deck doesnt have that as an option, what does this affect?

2). The power antenna... My connection on the new deck states "Power amp, or auto-antenna relay control terminal.(Max 300mA 12vdc) I cant find in my manual where the amp draw would be on that amplifier.

If I dont connect the dimmer, will this mess with my dimmer circuit?

1) The dimmer lead is used to dim the lights of your HU when you turn on your parking/headlights. It's not going to affect anything to not hook it up.

2) The power antenna lead can be used for the remote turn on to switch external amplifiers on or off. If you don't have external amplifiers, don't worry about this one.

I know that it fires amps, but can it power the antenna amplifier? Im worried about overloading that wire.

Thanks for the reply!

It's to turn a power antenna on/off. As the S doesn't have a power antenna, it's no biggie

Yes the S2000 has a powered antenna amplifier. I need to hook a wire to turn that on. I need to know what the DRAW is on that amp.

Hmm, I didn't hook it up when I installed the HU in my S... Thus I, obviously, know nothing about it. lol

Sorry.

Although, you could see about wiring that lead to activate a(the) relay that turns on the antenna amplifier...

If you didnt hook it up, chances are you wouldnt have any radio. The antenna is so short, that it requires an amplifier to get the signals into the radio stronger.

I just installed my JVC and also asked myself the same question about antenna amp/powered antenna, but then searched on forums and found that it can be hook up.

The thing is that before I was without my DCI for dash controls, I didn't hook up that wire and the radio quality was just fine, now I use that wire as described in manual, personally for me there is no difference, but since it says that it should be hooked up, I did that.
