Default Need speakers - cheap, decent sound quality, etc..

Hi!

I am looking to upgrade my stock speakers to something a bit better. The speakers won't be amped and I don't have tweeter cutouts. I don't have high expectations for the speakers, just want something better than stock! Another requirement is an easy install, I don't want to have to look for/make a bracket to make them fit properly, etc. Something cheap, good sound, easy to install! Something under $150 would be preferable....

ps... how hard is it to make your own tweeter cutouts?

Best suggestion is to goto your local store and try to hear many of the speakers in person.

I went with Infinity Reference 6012i, but another popular choice is the Polk DB651

I would suggest the Polk Db651. I have the component version 6500's and love them(no other aftermarket stuff). If you want components, I cant imagine it would be hard to surface mount the tweeter as it comes with all the hardware needed. Just need to drill a small hole in the door for the wire to pass through. The 651 would be much easer to install as it has no separate crossover to worry about and should just drop in. I would recommend you get the wiring adapters from your local install shop so they are simply plug and play.

What do you mean by a wiring adapter? Is it somewhat like how a wiring harness is for an aftermarket deck?

Actually the Infinity Reference 6012i I suggested are 4 ohm and I picked them up for $50, but I just checked out crutchfield and I guess they are discontinued
