I'm stuck with the amp, they will take back the sub or design me something else. What should I do?
I'm keeping the amp, it kicks ass.
However, after some tuning with the sub and trying different subs and even different enclosures, I'm considering having a custom sub box built to go in the side of the trunk.
I was talking to the guy (badboy) who posted on the "stereo install photos" thread about his JL 10" sub in a sealed box in the side of the trunk. he stated that it sounded awesome and was the best place to put a sub in the S2K for quality sound. So I may go that route.
My sub sounds much better with it being tuned properly and having the MMATS amp powering it, but I still think I could get better sound with a sealed box in the side of the trunk.
And my mids/highs sound great. I had a chance to see and hear a few systems at the SESM, and I was more than impressed with my mids/highs compared to all others. For me, they were clearly better. Better soundstage, more volume and very clean and clear.

LOL! Sorry to disappoint.
Yeah, the MMATS amp works great. I think part of the reason I was not happy with the bass was the fact that I'm pushing so much power, and it's easy to listen to something with heavy bass notes and end up rattling and flexing the trunk.
Also, I've complained about the bass not being tight enough, but I've realized something. My compliants mainly stem from me listening to Sirius radio. When I listen to the satellite radio, the bass is usually more "boomy" and not as tight, however, once I put in a CD the bass is no longer boomy and doesn't sound like the radio. I was under the impression that satellite radio would be clean and clear and similar to a CD, but I've found that it's similar to listening to regular radio stations (when the bass isn't as clean). So that's part of my problem. I like listening to satellite, but the bass doesn't sound as good. But I can pop in a CD of Tom Sawyer or a variety of other music and it will kick just right. But, I would like it just a tad bit tighter.
I know Dave prefers just enough bass in his car (heard inside, not out), but I'm one who likes it to pound inside (and if it pounds outside, that's fine too). So I think the fact that I have more "bass" tendencies is also one of the reasons why we've differed on things.
And like I said, my mids/highs are really good. Clean, clear, tight, accurate, loud and just how I like. Soundstage is high, highs are crisp (too crisp for some).

I really think that going to a sealed enclosure will fix the issues you've got with the "boomy" bass. In fact, its the primary thing I think that's making you unhappy with your bass sound. A few folk told you as much, but your shop built you something else.
And that MMats amp is going to keep things tidy and clean with that sealed enclosure should you go that route.

Have you considered WLaurent's boxes and Elemental Design (or similar) subs? I have two 8" subs that take almost no room and have one of the best systems I've ever heard in any car. They are astounding little subs. Clean, tight, very musical but yet they can get deep and hear-it-a-block-away loud if you desire. I like the opposite of Dave, very strong bass. So I got two 8s. Sounds incredible to me
Seeing your equipment list and hearing that you're disappointed ...

I was debating the two 8's in a WLAURENT box, as one is not enough! I've heard one, and although I was impressed, it wasn't enough for me. So I'd rather go with one 10" sub in the same location.
The shop is going to build me a new enclosure (sealed) with a different sub (most likely Eclipse) and put it on the side. I was going to sell my enclosure and sub, but they will take it back and get me a new enclosure.
In fact, I've debated selling the sub and the MMATS amp, as I want to "lighten" my car and considered getting rid of the extra amp and sub and just running the mids/highs. But I know that I would end up missing the bass if I did that. If I can just get a different enclosure and sub, I should be good to go.

I know that you are going to think I am crazy, but why not try some Aura BassShakers attached to the underside of each seat? I am thinking about trying this. I miss "feeling" the bass like I do in my Integra. This would replace that for very little money.
I don't want to just "feel" the bass (I can feel it plenty now), but I want to hear it and have it reproduce the right frequencies and give me that nice, tight sound.
A shop suggested them, but I just wasn't down for that. But they do save space!
I like the real deal when it comes to bass, and you just won't get that with the bass shakers.
