With the 9857 can you use I-personalise. Also do you have timing control of the individual speakers?

So it will directly access podcasts? My other deck (Kenwood) worked pretty well with all of the other stuff, but couldn't find the podcast listing. I just want to check before I buy this deck (tonight.)

Thanks,
Rad
i'm not sure. I'll try to load a podcast on this morning. I'll let you know what i find.

they haven't updated the requirements page to include 2006 products, however there is a section on the front page of the ipersonize site that says "04.03.2006 New products from the 2006 lineup have also been added to the compatibility list ". However, I'm not sure which products this includes.

the 9857 will play podcast. It sees them as just another artist/album/song, just like music.

No. It still requires a DCI. However, the DCI can be hardwired to the jack in the back, unlike the 9856, which requires IR.
how much is the DCI and is it big that it wont fit back there are there any pics ?

DCI and wiring harness is ~$100. Get more info at

Modifry's DCI web page

The unit is very small and fits in the space behind the radio.

What about the handsfree option on the 9857? I heard an incoming call will come over the speakers?

I just ordered both the DCI and the Alpine. Could anyone recommend some speakers that would work well with the HU and NO amp? Perhaps in the future I'll go with an amp, but at this time I don't want to bother with that installation. Thanks!

The following all work well and sound good at a reasonable price:

Polk db6500
Infinity Reference 6010cs
Alpine SPS171A

All are around $200 retail and have good sensitivty and reasonable bass response and fit without modifications.

Get Coaxils if your not installing an amp, but i wouldnt go coaxils, too many tweeters. Diconnect your factory tweeter if your going Coaxils.
If your going components, get an AMP, trust me, youll regret it if you dont. Spend the extra cash on some nice speakers and amp system. The S is so loud, your going to need a decent system.

Focal 165V Components $200 ish
Alpine 4 Channel Amp around $200 ish
