Default New Alpine oversized face units?

Anyone know if the new Alpine units with the oversized face will work in the S2000? It looks like the extra room is up top not at the bottom?

i've been looking at them for some time - the installer in my shop and i think that it won't fit... rather, it will fit, but the top will be up against the lap vents, which ultimately wouldn't be great for the unit (heat problems). it would be tight as tight can be, and in our opinion, isn't worth the problems it could cause - your angle function would most likely be nonexistant - and that's a nice feature to have in a low-mounted radio. give it a shot, i'm still going to try it.

There are a couple of us in the UK wanting an asnwer to this question, I'm pondering an upgrade from the 7969 to the 7998 to add MP3 and XM facilities.... the problem is I love the purity & looks of my 7969. The Alpine site is a bit vague about the 7998's RCA outputs too... does it now only have 4v output for the sub or for all 3 pairs?

Edit: I just downloaded the pdf version of its manual - it has a clock!!! Now I have to get one

I'm also wondering if the 7998 is going to fit. Has anyone heard when they will be available? I've heard mid June, however, no confirmation. I really hope that this unit will fit.

You Brits didnt get a clock for '01??? Wow... We in the States have has one for 2 years!

Hopefully someone will try this soon. I REALLY like the new Alpine units. Maybe they will put one out with a normal face. They also look like they can function as a phone?

lol, my quest for a clock is legendary.... MY01 OEM headunit... no clock (tape deck!!), Alpine 7878R....no clock , Alpine 7969R....no clock but it does sound rather nice

What odds do I get that the UK 7998 doesn't have a clock on it

it has to be an overseas thing - ALL alpines in my current lineup have clocks, and they all did last year as well - my 7878 (last year's) had one, as does my 7995 (current). i hate to ask this, but did you cycle through the different 'title' button options? maybe it's just a UK thing. you got me on that one.

as for arrivals, we have the 24th as the listed date of arrival for the new alpine 1.3 DIN face units.

lol, I even read the manual a couple of times to check! I'd guess at the UK RDS system being substituted on the display instead of the clock, there are normally a few subtle differences between NA spec and Euro spec headunits. (That said when my wife borrowed the car last week she accidently discovered that the 7969 has an adjustable face angle I'd had it in the car 6 months and never stumbled across it! )
