NEW INFO!!!(on cd compatable head units)
I have learned why some players play CD-R's and RW's and others play them for a little while then BLOW UP! That is NOT because they are thicker or even that they have a less reflective surface thats been compensated for in most players already.
What the problem is......is that the CD-R has more info on the CD and the CD actually controls how fast and how often the player spins to full revs. The player does not run at a constant speed all the time. With a CD-R your player is running full speed all the time kind of like running your car up hill 24-7 at 100 mph! It will run ok for a while then POOF!!!! It smokes itself! Supposibly in some cases it can get re-set by playing a regular CD but its rare.
I have heard this from multiple sources and very very reliable ones for that matter. Hope this clears things up.

I've never heard of this, nor have I ever had any problems personally with playing CD-R's in any of my stereo's I've owned. I would say that 90% of the CD's I listen to are CD-R's. Can you state the source of this information? I would be interested.

I've been playing CD-R's on my OEM changer as well as the headunit all summer with no problems.
