Default New Sony head unit has built in Class D amp built in.

So I was trying to narrow down a new head unit for my car and i was planning on buying a small Class D amp to power the door speakers and possibly future rear speakers (Lucid Mod) then i ran across this head unit and thought this might be perfect for saving space and wiring up an amp and all that jazz.

The head unit is the Sony MEXXB100BT

The only thing it seems to be missing is HD Radio. Although info on it seems to be hard to come by.

Key Features:

Built in Class D Amp puts out 40watt RMS x4 (roughly double most other HU)
bluetooth
NFC One touch connectivity
Front Aux
Front USB
lots of buttons so your not navagating menus for everything
Pandora control
3- 5 Volt Pre outs
10 Band Eq
+ other little stuff

Honestly it seems like it may be a good upgrade for people who dont want to mess with wiring an amp or is on a budget.

the unit is $229 on amazon but that is pretty fair for all the features. The other one i was looking at is the Kenwood KDC-BT958HD which is $187 on amazon but only puts out 22watts RMS x4.

This is the only site i could really find any real info on the head unit.

IS it too Gimicky? will the extra 20watts RMS matter?

I've seen higher RMS out of decks in this price range, doesn't seem special to me.

most decks are 50w x 4 but 16-18 watt rms so that is a nice improvement.

I just installed an Alpine deck and added there plug and play amp(ktp 445a) which bumps output to 45 watt rms by 4. I have Polk coaxials up front and added 5 by 7 in the rear and they sound way better then before. I mounted it on the driver side tranny tunnel near the top so it doesn't bother me at all. Definitely a must.

Might wanna check your facts. No head unit in this price range comes close to this. Most are rated between 15-22 rms. I don't even know of any head unit at any price range that puts out this much rms. I could be wrong but I've been doing a lot of searching lately and this is the first I've seen.

I might be wrong and misunderstood the ratings. I'll double check my Pioneer premier deck, I could swear this deck that's 7 years old is 40W RMS but I might be mistaking it

The huge fuse holder really caught my eyes, I wonder whats inside of that.

I think I am going to get this when it comes out...would be better than my current setup and about what I am looking for.

Would this pair well with these speakers:
