new tweeters
I understand the 2002 tweeters are run by the "other" two channels on the OEM stereo. What size are these tweeters and can they be replaced by aftermarket ones in a straightforward manner?
Up to date, threads about stereo have not mentioned these tweeters.
Any ideas?

Hey,
The 2002 tweeters are easy replace. The only thing is the stock ones have a capacitor to block the lows. When I changed it I added a component system and crossovers.
Huge difference. Sounds great.
The factory tweeters are crap!!!!

Since I may have the door panel off to replace the door speakers with what Lucid offers, what speakers can the OEM HU drive in the door, for tweeters without a problem if the door speakers are also upgraded with Lucid's 3 way door speakers? Also, what specifically will be needed? You mentioned a component system and a crossover. I would like to deliver everything needed to my installer and say here....fix it!
I am hoping that if I replace just the 4 speakers in the door, that the stock HU will be able to drive them and make a big enough difference to satisfy me.

If you want to replace your stock tweeter and speaker, you should definitely go the component route instead of using 3-ways. You'll get a much better sound and you already have a place (albeit not ideal) to mount the tweets. If you try to use 3-ways and tweeters together, your crossover will filter out all of the signal that would nomally feed the high end of the 3-way anyway. There are some great components out there that would make you really really happy.

I agree. Your leg is going to be blocking the door speaker anyway. I am going with the Infinity 605cs component system. That way the lower door speaker is only a woofer .. and the stock 2002 tweeter gets replaced with a sweet sounding silk dome and a decent crossover.
Rhubarb,
Let me know after the install what you think and exactly what you used. Are you sure they will fit?
Follinvt,
How about recommending component speakers that would fit in my 2002. They would have to be able to be powered by the stock HU. But when you said I would be really happy, I got really interested

I have a question on the Infinity components. Do they need a seperate amp, or would a Pioneer DEH-740MP which is like 50x4 peak power them just fine?
Also, for the rear panel, is it possible to cut the panel to make 6x9's fit back there?
