New Viper Alarm installed
I dropped my S2000 of yesterday at my local BestBuy to have a Viper 350 installed with the addition of a motion detector and a hardwire lighter socket on the passagers footwell side. The senior certified installer said to give him about 4 hours to install it, but it took 10 hours of hard work on his part to finish it (becasue of the cramp interior and access to the wiring harness)
All seems to to work well except when I picked up the car. The installer said that the passager door will not open with the viper key flob, but the drivers door and the truck will. He claims that the passager door is on a different circuit??? and that it can't be done.
Now I stuck using two key flobs and the whole deal cost me about $400 installed.
My question, is this guy just saying that becasue his frustrated after messing with it for 10 hours and doesn't want to fool around with it anymore.

My Python alarm does what you are asking.
Here is a pick of my remote, except mine has greyish buttons and the "alert" button in the middle is red:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Python-474P-...f0c1be&vxp=mtr
I press unlock to disarm the alarm and open both doors. If the alarm is off, the unlock just unlocks.
I press lock to lock and arm.
I hold aux for about 3seconds and it pops the trunk.
I've actually never used nor have any facts concerning the middle red button. I assume it sets the alarm off, aka panic.
My Python alarm was installed by the previous owner so I don't really know the cost or value in current market. However, it does have a glass sensor, proximity sensor, the typical shake/tap sensor (found in all alarms), and 2 blinking LEDs, one on each A-Pillar.

There are levels and degrees of competence. I can't stand it when someone promises something and doesn't deliver. They'll make excuses and won't follow through to honor their word. No professional ethics and no different from stealing. Take it up with their Regional Manager if you must.

Hey guys,
i used to do mobile electronics install at best buy. In no way am I trying to cover for the problems/faults... just want to inform you.
1. you are correct, memorizing a book and installing something is 2 different things. I was certified because memorizing a book. But the things that I memorized helps with custom installs and large system installs. A lot of it is physics on electricity.
2. your door triggers should work with 1 press of unlock. If not, he might have tapped the wrong wire. can easily be fixed.
3. 10 hours to work on an S2000 is normal. It takes me 6 hours to install an alarm with remote start in my S. This is with soldering wires and resistors to the harness and shrink wrapping. Adding motion sensors and placing it in a position that it is discrete and functional takes time to take a part a car. Especially since it's not a daily car that someone works on. This is just like having someone change the clutch on your car. Civics are easy, S2000s.. little more complex. So i'm not surprised it took 10 hours. Especially since he did not take out the driver seat. I lay upside down when I do it.
Let me ask you this... did he do a clean job, wires tucked and no damage to your car. when I was doing installs, i've seen shitty installs and damages that other installers at other stores made that the client was not informed.
If you want to get this done quickly follow the chain of command... going to a "regional manager" will get you no where... I guarantee it. I still work for the company. Just follow what I say here and Do not make threats of any sort. If the installer is incompetent to fix it, talk to the supervisor. Title should be Geek Squad Deputy of Counter Intelligence Agents aka DCI. If the DCI is not in, talk to the assistant manager. If they refuse to resolve the issue, call 1-888-BestBuy and inform them of the issue, the time you initially purchase the product and when it was installed and let them know that you were really calm. This will red flag in the system for the store to resolve. you may end up with a gift card and they may refer you to another store to fix the installation. Your work warranty is covered by any Best Buy. Do not let them tell you that you have to go to the original store that installed it. That is BS. How do I know this? I'm normally fixing other people's mistake because I "memorize a book".

Thanks for the information.
I stopped by Bestbuy yesterday afternoon and spoke to the young lady that I originally spoke too and explained the problem. She agrees that the passagers door should work via the viper key flob and that I shouldn't have to carry around my old Honda key flob. She said that he must have done something wrong. I told her that I would bring it back again this weekend and that I only wanted her to work on it since I wasn't happy with the other installer and that she seems to know what she's talking about.
I'll let you all know how it goes.

get insulted al you want, but mecp cert is marketing bs so that customers will feel warm and fuzzy over having some kid with 6 months training hacking up the electrical system of a car.
case in point, see above. also for the record, the s2000 is no different than any other honda electrically. 10 hours for a standard alarm is absurd. I can gut the entire interior, install the alarm and put it all back in by then.
