Ok so i have installed an Alpine 178BT and JBL GTO 6.5" components in the front of the S2K, they do sound good but if i turn them up to a loud enough point to hear them with the top down they start distorting. Am i right in assuming this is because they are 75W RMS and the HU is not providing anywhere near that?

The audio feed for the component is taken from the OEM speakers speaker input, is this ok?


Next i have ordered the ebay headrest brackets, with a 6.5" space. Firstly any recommendations for speakers (i think 2-way coaxial will be best?) and should i buy a 2 channel amp or will running them off the headunit be adequate?

Or should i buy a 4 channel amp and run everything off that?

I love 80s hard rock/AOR so want to have a system support that style...

 

Turn up the frequency. You'll get less bass but it won't distort. I have mine at 80-100hz I think. Anything 80 or lower should be used for a sub.
