It's not the equipment that's problematic in a car, it's placement of the drivers and the size/shape of the "listening chamber". You have far more control over that in the home (unless your S.O. doesn't share your enthusiasm for audio

I agree that the positioning and the accoustics of the cabin can cause problems, but you CAN (although usually not practical) make those problems moot if you get the right equipment and the right tune. Just look at the Alpine Show cars.
