No Audio Sound - Head unit failure or wiring failure?
My head unit has suddenly stopped producing any sound. There is still power and the display works. I want to establish whether it is a head unit problem (it is a stock unit) or a wiring problem.
I have checked the connections into the back of the HU and they are OK.
Is there another connector in the circuit that if disconnected would disconnect all the speakers (I have 2 front speakers and 2 door tweeters) but would leave the power supply intact?
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Some more detail:
It is the OEM head unit. No amplifier. Previous owner must have added the tweeters.
I am assuming that because there is power to the unit and the display is working that it is not a power/fuse issue.
The only sound I get through the speakers is a slight "click" when I turn the power on, which perhaps suggests that the connection to the speakers is still good.
I have owned the car for 2 weeks. All working fine until a couple of days ago. It was working when I turned it off after a journey home from work. The next morning I turned it on and no sound.

don't make that assumption about the fuse. check it please.
people have had issues like this w/ the accessory fuse, where the OEM radio had many appearances of working, but wouldn't play.

Fuses checked. The usual culprit, the accessory fuse, (No 5)was OK. The radio fuse (No 19) was OK. However, the fuse described in the manual as "back up" (No 16) was blown. It's a 7.5 amp fuse. I replaced it with a spare. I tried the radio - no response. I checked the new fuse. It had blown. I do not know whether it blew as soon as I put it in, or when I turned the radio on.
interesting...
i'm not overly familiar w/ that fuse. let me do a little looking and i'll see what i can do... you might also want to PM modifry this thread... he's the man who knows every wire in the S and what they all do...
i'm having a little trouble finding info on this fuse just via normal searches...
if nothing else, the fact that it blew again tells you something is wrong.
