No power to Sony headunit
Yesterday I hooked up my Infinity Basslink which had been out of the car for a few weeks. I noticed some popping sounds when retrieving the wires from the spare tire area (radio was on). The power wire from the battery was taped up so I know it didn't make the noise. I doubt the ground would make those noises either. That leaves the pre-amp wires and the power-on wire.
So I drive to work listening to radio and CD, but no Basslink. When I leave work, the headunit doesn't work either, but it does spit out and re-insert CD's.
I checked the car fuses - all are OK. Any other thoughts?
Thanks

My guess would be a fuse blown somewhere along the line, or alternatively a disconected 12v ignition wire, seeing as how the unit has power enough to spit out cd's, but doesn't turn on.
Good Luck!

Most likely its the 7.5 amp fuse...cant remember which circuit its on though.
Check all 7.5's until you find the blown one and replace it.
And the reason the unit will still take cds and eject them is because you still have constant power to the unit...you just blew the switched power fuse.
replace and enjoy.

I have checked all the fuses and replaced the audio ones for the hell of it. Seeing how the CD eject is working, I doubt the car is the problem. Since I already have the Modifry Sony dash control mod, I'm stuck with another Sony headunit. At least some have 2 year warranties.
steven975, thanks for your help.
Sure enough, only the yellow wire is lighting up, so at least I shouldn't need a new stereo. I double checked the 'audio' fuse and it is OK. Power shows up there as well, so I assume the problem is somewhere in between.
Should I just take this to a professional now or is there something else I can do?
