Thumbs up No power to stereo

Bear with me... I've been diagnosing for a while now and have finally hit the wall of my skill-set.

I ordered a new Alpine 9885 from Crutchfield and the Modifry wired DCI from Modifry.

Tuesday:
1. Alpine showed-up from Crutchfield. I'm like a 3 year old with new stuff, so I spliced together Crutchfield's supplied factory adapter and Alpine's provided pig-tail.
2. Took out the old, put in the new, nothing. No lights, power, nuthin.
3. Re-hooked up the factory unit using only the blue connector (I've read where the white one is for the CD changer only.) Nothing again.
4. Plugged in the white "CD Changer" connector. Lots of whirring and CODE on the display. Hunh.
5. Re-tried the Alpine for giggles, nothing.
6. Re-tried the Factory just to put stuff back together. Now it's dead!
7. Fine. I'll wait for Modifry's plug and play adapter to take any wiring issues I had out of the equation.

Thursday:
1. Modifry's DCI shows up.
2. Hook up the Alpine via his harness. Still Nothing
3. Follow the diagnostics on Modifry's site. The results:

There is 12V on the red wire when grounded to a random screw near the radio opening.
There is only 5.45V crossing when I measure between red and black on Modifry's connector
There does seem to be about 1.1mA across the circuit, which is normal.
The final thing I tried was running a separate ground from the alpine/modifry harness to the successful 12V ground screw. Still nothing.

Next steps? The car's under warranty, so I could just button everything back up and ship it off to the dealer. Just bummed.

Did you check the fuses?

Check the radio fuse and the accessory fuse.

Bah! Sorry! Forgot to tell everyone I checked EVERY![I] fuse under the dash. I had read conflicting reports about the proper fuse numbers for radio and accessory, so I ended up pulling them all. All were fine.

Hmm. I'm stumped then.

You will want to check voltage on the power, and remote wires. Usually the constant power wire color is yellow and the remote is red. If you check those and they both have voltage and you have a good ground then you have power. It should turn on with those 3 things.

Did you plug in the antenna? Alpines wont turn on without the antenna.

I'll check the power and remote wires tonight when I get back from work.

I didn't have the antenna attached when I tried the separate ground originally. I just tried it again with the antenna in place, and still nothing. I'm just befuddled at what could have gone so south. I obviously did something wrong, but...

I recently installed the same head unit. I also purchased the wired Modify, and the PnP adapter. I never used any of the harnesses shipped with the head unit from Crutchfields. I simply attached the above Modify items to the existing harness and and plugged into the new head uint. I do not understand why you had to splice wires..everything is simply plug and play. Hope this is helpful...

Agreed. I was just too anxious to hear the new stereo before the Modifry unit showed-up. Once the Modifry unit arrived, all connections were done via the Modifry harness. NO splicing.

Does your accessory outlet (cigarette lighter outlet) still work? If not, that fuse really IS blown. By the way, when the factory unit showed "code", it had come up and was asking you for the security code.
