Noise suppression

I've finally got around to installing my Neo MP3 player in my S.
When it's playing there is a lot of line noise, I suspect caused by the hard drive.
What sort of noise suppression devices are available and where do they connect? On the power? The Line Outs?
Any help would be appreciated

Aus,
Can you describe the noise you're hearing (frequency, and wierd modulations, changes with RPM, has a pattern, etc.)? That'll help us decide where it's actually coming from. It COULD be the drive, but I would seriously doubt it...some description should help.

I checked out some FAQ's on the Neo and it can be a problem, more so with some brands of drives.
I bought and inline power noise suppressor and some earth shielded RCA leads. I'll install tonight and let you all know.

Well, that diagnosis was simple enough. If it sounds like a drive spinning up, it probably is. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...
I've heard some great things about the Neo, and it certainly looks sweet, but I have to wonder about the engineering behind something that lets stepper motor noise through. Just a WAG, but the designers sound more like Linux gurus than electronics wizzes.
The RCA cables might work, but they won't do you any good if the noise is getting in before the audio signal makes it out of the box (most likely cause). Also, a power noise suppressor isn't going to do you any good either...they exist to keep out 60 Hz hum (unless you have something different) from the AC line...since you're using 12V DC (I'm neglecting the AC crap from the drives) there's nothing to kill there. The frequency of noise coming from those drive motors will be MUCH higher than 60 Hz, so the filter will be, for all intents and purposes, useless.
Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky with one of them. If so, more power to ya

Apparently there is an open curcuit between audio grounds and the power ground on the Neo 35. So if the power isn't grounded properly then it affects the audio.
If someone wants to put this in more correct geek speak please be my guest.
I wired up the Neo with a good solid ground, and the power line filter and can happily report that it functions beautifully and sounds great. There is a very small amount of noise on the line but it's only noticable at high volume in pauses.
