all the other parts are commin in later this week so i need to get a new headunit fast.
now i'm looking into other head unit.
The Panasonic CQ-C9800U
wut do you folks think about this one? anyone know if it'll fit and all? i don't want to go through that trouble again...

I love panasonic electronics. They are top quality. But take my word for it....
Get an Alpine. They are simply and unequivically the best. The ease of use, performance, and expandability is second to none.
I can get you an alpine 9831 for about $250.
Remember, Ive had 85% of the manufacturer's of headunits, and also hated alpine. The s2000 is my first one, and Ill never go back to anything less.

why Alpine? http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=207170
we talked about it some in this thread...
at the end of the day, buy what you want. for some of us, we've gone w/ Alpine now b/c in the past we've tried a lot of the others and just have been that much more pleased w/ the Alpines.
ease of use, reliability, simplicity of menus, few if any useless features, quality of sound, and components...
i'm not saying there aren't other good ones out there - i just know Alpine has made me happier at the end of the day than the others i've tried.

Go with the 9831! It'll have all the fancy features including the multi-colored display and is perfect for an amped system (not a VDRIVE model, better for those adding aftermarket amps).
The Diamonds or the Focals will be great in the S2K. I went with the Focals and am upgrading from the 165CV to the 165KP's (kevlar series) as they will have more midbass!
Check online for various prices. You can get Focals for a great price from www.acaraudio.com

personally, i think you guys underrate the value of the crossovers and parametric EQ's in the 9833+. the flexibility of those head units are incredible... in years past, to get the options they offer, you had to add fairly expensive outboard crossovers... and while i'm not a big fan of EQ's for the average system, having a little tweakability at the edges can be worth a lot when you're doing the fine tuning. and eq's of that level w/ that much refinement were never cheap...
*blah blah blah* Philip's rambling now...
move along... nothing to see here...

OK. i ordered everything a week ago but i cancelled my order a few days ago because i'm not sure if i'm going the right way. 10in JL w6v2, alpine 9835 headunit, JL 500/1 amp, JL 300/2 amp, Focal 165KP components. i like everything but #1, it is all very expensive, and #2 i'm not sure if JL would be the best choice on amps. anyone else have any suggestions on amps, preferrably 1 for the sub and another for the mid/highs?
