Default OEM Alarm -> Honks too loud

I am assuming the OEM alarm is installed in my 2002. The first time I hit the lock button on the fob it locks/engages and HONKS. Although I'm constantly worried, I don't lock it if I come home late at night, because I don't want to be inconsiderate to the neighbors (apartment). One lady jumped and gave me a dirty look in a parking lot the other day when I came back to my car and unlocked it. I've also tried to lock it using the door locks, but that also engages the alarm.

I used to own another 2002, but it didn't have the OEM alarm. I would hit lock once on the fob and it would lock silently. I could then hit lock a second time, if desired, to let out a honk.

Is there a way to silence or quiet down the horn when engaging/disengaging the alarm?

You can make it not beep at all and be silent. Just press the option and the lock button at the same time for 2 seconds.

iKMTi: you just have the normal keyless entry, not the OEM alarm right? If so, it's silent unless you push it twice.

i'm not sure about the 07, but on my 02 the option button is the trunk button.
i hold the 'trunk' button and the lock button at the same time for 3 seconds

You have the same one as I do, it's the standard keyless entry remote. If you press the lock button once, it will flash the lights and lock it WITHOUT honking the horn.

If you press lock again within 5 seconds or so, it WILL honk the horn.

Just keep an eye for the flashing parking lights to know that it was locked successfully and you're good to go.

Stick a sock in it?

I say that tongue in cheek but...

I got an AutoPage Alarm system

Press once - LOCK with SOUND
Press TWICE - Panic Mode

I try the option button = trunk + lock... does not work.

So I guess I can't do any silent lock.
