OEM Radio Compatability Issues
So I bought a used '05 radio here on the board. Installed it last night and everything worked fine (faceplate controls and dash controls) until I screwed the radio back into car, then radio started a "re-boot" of sorts but seemed to keep power because the "Security" light kept on flashing.
So I'm wondering if the radio is burnt or if it's just a compatibility issue? I'm gonna' see if I can find another early model owner to try this OEM unit before I contact the seller.
Have there been other reported cases of late model OEM radio failure? Did the previous owner only replace the radio because it was bad?

do you have the radio code? Sounds like it locked up due to power being cut somewhere (no sound, but "security" blinking....kind of tells radio thiefs that they are screwed). Does it ask for the code? Only other thing I can think of is a grounding issue....but that would probably pop a circuit and you would get no power.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, the radio does ask for the code and when entered the radio worked. At first start-up EVERYTHING tested just fine. Dash controls, face controls but then after a few minutes just when I was satisfied and started to mount the radio it just shut itself off and all I would get was the "Security" light flashing.
I unplugged the harness waited 5 minutes reattached the harness and re-entered the code and then the same thing, only sooner this time.
possibly

I would guess that your wiring is the problem. There are two power feeds to the radio. One of them is probably getting disconnected when you are pushing the radio back into place. Try leaving it out for a while and see if it plays after you enter the code.

The radio doesn't like the key in the "ON" position. When I turn the fully forward the radio shuts down.
More investigation to follow.
Any more ideas folks? I may try to jump the "ACC" feed and use that same feed for the "ON" pin and just tie back the power feed for the "ON" position. Thoughts?
Thanks
