Opening topic again...
Maybe if I responded a little sooner the topic wouldn't have strayed. But anyway an 8" woofer is going to be in the footwell of where the passenger sits. I dunno about how big the box will be, but i want it just big enough for the speaker to not take damage. The box will most likely be made out of plexiglass. I mainly listen to metal/alternative/rock...so i don't care too much for those low end rap songs. the amp powering it will be pushing about 300-400W. So are those JL and audiobahns the best for my application?
PS. You guys were starting to mention some good points and were being helpful until an arguement came up. I do apologize for I have been to busy to jump online lately. Thanks again for your help.
NOTE: There are a few ppl on the site that have installed what I am taking about. Thats basically what I am doing...just want to know about what sub to use. I like my music loud and clear.

Well, first off, I think you meant fiberglass, not plexiglass.
You would need to be one skilled mofo with plexi to do it.
Anyway, most people here know Im not a fan of incabin subs.....but the best one Ive seen (I dont remember the member name, but someone can find it)....
He made a custom enclosure to go on top of the drivers knee area....there is a big space there. I vote for that one.

Here is the in-cabin installation NFR was talking about. LATEOTT did it. I thought it was way cool.
It is, however, a 6 1/2" JL sub. Should be plenty big for in the cabin though, especially in your lap.
Are you sure that you want it in the passenger foot well?

s2kmugen has 6" JL Sub in the passenger footwell, the installation is very neat. According to him, the sound is not bad either. I have 6" Bose sub in the same passenger foot well, using 6"x6"x6" electrical box from Home Depot, the sound is very good for a total cost of $37 ($25 for Bose sub and $12 for the box)
s2kmugen sub is below:

I guess i'm going with the JL's. Still need to figure out if i'm getting the 6W0 or the 8W0 or maybe even the 8W3v2. Whichever creates the best balance of sound/power and space.
Forgive the ignorance, but I've been interested in this kind of a project as well. I thought thta part of the concern in installing a 6" or 8" sub in that area was that the sub box had to be a certain minumum volume (size that is) for proper resonance.
I've been holding off on the project until I was able to do some research and understand how to make it work.

That is one of the main reasons I chose it for my S2000 install. Others designing systems for small vehicles (Minis, Miatas, M-Coupes...) have chosen to use one or more 6W0's rather than one 8" or 10" sub. The small size and small volume requirement of the 6W0 makes it easy to be more creative with location.
The one downside is SPL. A 6.5" sub can have great frequency response, but it won't be as loud as a larger sub with a larger cone area, or one that can handle more power. (Using two, three or four of them can make up for that.) If the sub is in the cabin, one sub can give you more volume than you need.
The other thing I like is that it keeps the sound more or less in the car, instead of in the neighborhood. But that's just me...

I think there are several locations for a 6W0 in the S2000 cabin:
1) Under the driver's dash (where I installed mine)
2) Passenger footwell (there are two slightly different examples of that in S2KMugen and Gamecock's installs. It could also be done like Modifry's.)
3) Building a custom chamber to replace the secret compartment (has been done with an 8", a 10", and two 8" subs)
4) Under the driver's seat if you don't have an OEM alarm, and if you can handle some seat mobility loss.
5) In the doors, if you install your mids somewhere else (i.e. custom kickpanels)
6) Behind the passenger seat (with chamber extending under the seat), if you can tolerate some passenger seat mobility loss.
7) (Close to in-cabin) Between the rollbars and fuel tank ported through the grill behind the driver's seat. There is a great little space back there but it is only accessible if you remove a LOT of panels and the convertible top for the install.
SheDrivesIt linked my install above. In the first part of my post I linked to three or four other installs if you want ideas.
Thanks Lateott.
Yup, this sounds like the solution that I was looking for as well.
I read about your install some time ago and thought "ok, if he can put one THERE, I can do this too!"
I may choose placement underneath both seats as mobility there is less of a concern for me. I'm also less afraid of the "finish work" that would be hidden under the seats.
1) I assume that each SW would be best served by its own amp as opposed to one, two channel amp. Perhaps this is not so.
2) I would also imagine that the cabinets for these, small volume as they are, would have to be custom to fit in that space. If that is the case, it seems that it would be a simple matter to just make sure that I have the correct floor to seat clearance and build the box of that volume to mount under each seat.
I love the idease posted in the other threads,
but someone please stop me if I'm covering material that's been well posted.

Do you know of any links or anything to where I can get more info on this particular install? Possibly pics or something. Thanks.
