Default Opinions on 2 way active

My current setup is here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/603...ssons-learned/

As you can see its quite old (the Basslink stopped working sometime late last year). The 880PRS I believe has blown micro fuses and is causing an electrical whine I can't get rid of. Plus, it is not compatible with the newer iPods via the IP BUS like I have it currently configured. So it needs to go. However, just a few months ago I 'discovered' the 880 can do T/A and some semi serious EQ'in and started playing with it to suite my tastes. Now I'm spoiled. The true successor to the 880PRS is the DEX-P99RS which STARTS at $1100. To that, I say no. I've settled in on the Alpine 305S with the Imprint module but I'm torn on going full active with the components. I have to move up to a four channel amp which isn't much of a problem, but I have to tear the doors out to remove the crossovers and run more speaker wire which isn't very appealing.

Anyone running full active on their door speakers? Opinions and impressions would be greatly appreciated.

i run full active in my 240SX with a 880PRS and to me it made a huge difference but it does take time to adjust it to the way you like it.

I run Bi-amped using a CDA9887 and Imprint - it sounds fantastic. It also works very well with straighforward 2 channel amps.

Imprint thread here https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/733..._fromsearch__1

Jury is still out on full active, I think I'm gonna run it with the imprint as is and see how that goes first.

Sidenote: I have the modifry DCI PnP harness and the only thing that's working is the mute button. I've played with the dip switches but I still can't get the other buttons to work. Hopefully I can find my stock radio and test the dash controls to make sure they still work. I've had problems with them in the past

Imprint is in. Shitty software does not work with Win7. Some kind of communications error keeps coming up. I'm slightly past pissed about this.

Had to hack up the Alpine cable to fit my iPhone dock. Alpine really gets on my nerves with their propriety cables.

Pulled the bezel out trying to figure out what happened to the dash controls. Look what I found

Whoever installed my alarm used it for the relay on the starter kill connected to the start button. Still trying to figure why

You are probably getting the connection error because you need to plug everything in before you run the software. If it's getting that far, it means the software is running ok in Win7.

No I've done that and it still doesn't work. The drivers are installed and Windows sees the box. From what I can tell, it looks like the shitty Imprint wants to communicate on a certain COM port with a specific set of settings, but I don't know what those settings are and it definitely isn't in any of their support documents.

Can anyone with the Imprint software take a screen shot of the properties window for the USB -> Serial device that shows up in System Manager when you plug in the Imprint?
