What amp you thinking about mounting? I have a big Zappco 1100.1 mounted to mine, and I've done systems that have two large JL amps that are heavy with no problem. The width of the amp is more the issue.
An A1500HCT...if I can get it working again...might be time for a new amp...

I could only problem is you would have to drill a hole in your car to mount it. The nice think about the flat rack is the design allows you to not drill any holes in your car.

Weight is not a problem with this amp this issue is the width of the amp is to big. I only have 10" of width to work with as I use the trunk springs to hold the rack in place so you don't have to drill any holes in your car. So if you buy a new amp look for ones less then 10" wide. The Alpine PDX amps are very nice. With them I can even mount them on the back side of the rack for a very stealth install.

That looks great! How much PAS2K? Looks like this may be my 2nd buy from you. If you don't remember, I bought your OEM shift knob YEARS ago.

Also, exactly what holes would need to be drilled if I wanted a rack that allowed me to retain my spare?

You would need to drill two holes across the top to mount the board if you only did a half rack.

How do you keep the rack from sliding out from the bottom? I mean to say, it's held in place from the top, what keeps the bottom in place?

Oh, and PAS2KNUT always does quality work

Looks like the Darkside box. They do not make them anymore however.

If he did what I did, there is a tiny firm hump in the trunk carpet that you can fix the wood between. This keeps it from popping out.

My cover is also secured only by the trunk springs and this little hump below.
