As an "older" guy, I am not really interested in shaking up the house, just fill in sound with the top open.

I want a powered subwoofer so that I do not have to mess with an external amp. I will look up this pioneer, thank you for the tip.

I have seen some S2000s fill their trunks with massive subwoofers, does it shake the whole cabin into bits after prolonged usage? I am probably overplaying it, but what would be a reasonable size and power for a trunk subwoofer, I know this would have probably been covered to death somewhere else on the forum!

EDIT: The only one I could find is this https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/p...10a-micro-ces/ and on Pioneer's web site here: https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/P...ofer/TS-WX010A

Question is: How do I attach this to the area right under the passenger-side dashboard? or perhaps it can readily fit behind either seat. It looks absolutely tiny, so not sure if it even sounds decent.

I guess some folks have used Velcro with decent success. BTW, what are the best flat compact powered subwoofers out there? So many websites, so many opinions, so much confusion

Keep speaker sensitivity in mind. These Pioneer power subs have like 95-100db sensitivity.

A speaker with 3db less sensitivity takes 2x as much watts of power to produce same sound level.

These powered subs are like 50 RMS (CEA 2006 certified).

So a sub with say, 85 db sensitivity would need a 250W amp to sound as loud.

So tiny, but decent sound.

Bass isn't directional like tweeters are. It also easily passes through obstructions (hence common to trunk mount). So really an ideal place to mount the tiny thing is slotted into white foam wedge under pass carpet footwell.

Since its Class D, no real heat, so no issue living in tight place.

Pull back carpet, remove white foam. Measure and mark foam, steak knife out a slot, and reinstall and wire it up.

Since its low power, won't need to wire it direct to battery.

Appreciate that, certainly worth a try and will not break the bank. Cheers.

Hi All,

After a while of researching subs for the car I ended up going with the Pioneer footwell sub and am pretty happy on how it turned out.

I too was just looking for some bass to fill in the bottom end and lighten the load on the door speakers, nothing window shaking. I was able to mount the sub up under the dash, bolted to the two studs that support the heater box. I had to design and 3D print the brackets since I didn't want to screw or cut anything into the car (happy to share the STL).

My fallback if I couldn't mount it under the dash would have been to mount it under the drivers seat like others who have the Pioneer or Kenwood under seat subs. Since the footwell sub is the same height but shorter in length and width I suspect it would fit without problems and could be totally hidden.

I have a custom made footwell sub that I'm going to be selling as soon as I rebuild it for the new driver that I got. Also large diameter tweets with custom brackets to fit behind the stock grilles. Happy to do demos for anybody in the Puget Sound area, and happy to supply knowledge about my build.
