I want the best i can get for under 1500 excluding my head unit which already have, its a pioneer premier, DEH-P920R for a GSR hatch.

I would like to have components up front, and maybe something decent for the rears if i can afford it.
I was thinking of a single Apline type R woofer either in a box, or in fiberglassed spare tire well.
i have no ideal about amps.
I could probably do the install myself. 1600 minus about 100 for wire and hardware.
I was thinking the alpine sub for 120, some decent components are abou 500, rears 200, that leaves 700 (+/-) for the amps.

Can anyone suggest model numbers and brand for the stuff i want?

 

I would go with Boston Acoustic Pro Series component speaker and a Xtant amp. You can check out Xtant amps at www.xtant.com. A lot of competition cars use Xtant amps. I'm in the process of putting Boston components in my door and have a Xtant 404M amp to power the components. I'm also looking for some 4" speaker for the back. I will also power these speakers with the 404M. Loud crisp and clear.

 

What about DEI amps...im thinking of getting 2 RMS 8" subs in a "custom" bandpass box with the DIE 800 (i think) 5 channel amp, 250 for sub + 75x4

what you guys think of DEI?

 

I'll back up the recommendation on Xtant amps. They're crystal clear, beautiful pieces of electronic power. American-made, too.
Try that on for size.

I am also a huge Boston Acoustics fan, but try out the Rally Series as well. The Pro series has better woofers/midranges, but they use metallic tweeters--which are bright, and not everyone likes that. The Rally series uses silk tweeters--softer sound. Which I prefer, personally. I have some RC61 *old* Rally speakers in my Subaru, that I had in my old Acura too.
Great speakers, just tremendous. Many think the old series were better than the new, so if you find a reseller (like Tweeter, Etc.), ask if they have any old Rally sets in stock. You could save money since they aren't "the new thing."

Ive been talking to this guy who makes his own subs. The same company that makes eclipse makes his custom subs. Since Im not into loudness at all...im going for SQ (for personal purpose, not competition).
I have talked to him and he has quoted me on this:
Two of his 8 inch subs
His custom built, tested, and tuned bandpass box
Front plexiglass with the Acura Symbol over amp(and maybe have it say "ACURA" underneath the symbol in white, below is an example of a box he did)
Wiring to wire the amp, sub, and to the things to the rest of the system
DEI 5 channel am (800 watts i believe)
shipping included for 900.

what do you guys think?

Will it fit in your trunk? Guess this is going in your GSR so it might not be an issue.

TC Sounds is the company that makes the sub you're talking about, started by a German engineer, Thilo Stompler, here in San Diego. I have a 12" titanium woofer of theirs sold under the Eclipse name. An absolutely incredible speaker.

I always had two 8's in each of my hatchbacks and it worked extremely well. With $600 you could get a really nice set of fronts but that doesn't leave you much for dampening. There are low-buck damping alternatives, like the tar stuff used in roofing or in OEM sound-dampening applications.

I'd ask the guy you're getting the sub/amps from what component set he recommends to complement the subs. Mostly it's preference - any of the best from BA, Polk, Infinity are good. You can look at Focal or Dynaudio too but that might start to get over $600.
