Default Perminant Mount Dash Camera

I've seen more and more videos online where people were saved from crazy driver lawsuits due to having a dash camera.

Does anybody know of a good camera for this?
I'm looking for something with loop recording, so it automatically writes over old files, and something that auto starts with 12V. I also want something that will not stand out hugely (in terms of theft), particularly if mounted to the secret compartment, or if it is really small, maybe to the bottom corner of the windscreen.

The closest i've found is this thing, but it is way more expensive than what I had in mind, i didn't even spend that much on my gopro.

I have a gopro. this doesn't come close to meeting the completely hands off requirement. I dont want something to film track days, i want something to film daily driving, every day, without me having to do anything. Hence the loop recording, so it auto writes over old content and 12V auto on off requirement.

Yeah lots of crazy shit happening lately out there I'm also looking for a dash cam, I think I'm going with a gopro. It can record 6 hrs. on a 32g card and you can plug it in the 12v outlet to get unlimited power.

If I can find something that's more permanent and can be hardwired to the car that would be much better.

well, as someone who owns a gopro, i assure you that they are not user friendly and you will not want to turn it on every time you get in your car, although i hear that the hd hero 2 is much better than the original hd hero, which i have. The other annoyance is that I believe it has a constantly blinking red light when recording. I use my for motorcycle track days, and it works great for that, it's a good product, just doesn't seem like a good solution to the everyday recording problem.

I agree, GoPro probably not the best for exactly what you want. The continual loop wouldn't be possible. If you turn on 1-touch recording, its really not that big of a deal to just start/stop it with one button. You would just have to do a quick manual wipe of the memory card every so often, and also run it through the power cord, not battery. If you dont like the red lights, the Hero2 is worse for you since it it has several red lights!

I found this, it looks pretty good http://www.blackvue.com.sg/index.html it records up to 8 hours on a 4g card. I will also record up to 3 days when your car is parked, activated with a motion sensor or impact on your car.

eBay $124 http://www.ebay.com/itm/BlackVue-DR3...item256b28952a
