Nope, the PAC unit remembers it's set up when you remove power.
Theoretically I could send them off pre-programmed but only for the radio/mod combo not the harness/mod combo. Though that would mean wiring into my car a whole new harness and set of wires and all kinds of other stuff. Plus it might not be exactly the buttons they wanted. Such as different buttons for the CH button(next track vs. next preset FM)

Its all of about what 5 min if all goes well to program the thing up. Though it does "remember".

So MacGyver have you yet to figure out how to get the mute button to work with radio's that don't have a mute lead.

Hmmm, never thought too hard on this one since mine has a lead. One solution (although not necessarily the most elegant) would be to use the relay to disconnect the speaker wires (two relays needed instead of one). For those with an amp, another possible solution (again, not the most elegant) would be to interrupt power to the amp...although if the amp has a turn-on delay that could be disconcerting.

A slightly more elegant way (albeit a tad more messy) would be to use the mute relay to inline a resistance not currently used...this would make the PAC believe a standard button is being pressed. I'll have to think a bit more on this one and throw another schematic on my webpage.

Have you run into many radios without this type of lead? If so, I'll consider it a higher priority and design that schematic real quick.

Just to show that I do share information.....I will let you in a little secret. What you do is take away the switched power for the radio! Just like it would be to turn off the car.

I dont know the exact wiring diagram as far as the numbers but im sure you can figure it out.

The mute button is better wired to shut down the power so you don't have to open the cover to turn off the radio!

I don't believe I've ever turned my radio off...in any car I've owned. I swap once in a blue moon between radio and CD, but I'd rather use the mute button for it's intended purpose.

Unfortunately, simply using a resistor and a relay won't solve the problem, and I'm surprised no one has answered my quiz from before about why it won't?
