Ok question. What exactly is the difference between a PAC SWI-3 and "Pinky's Mod?"

$100! I could see if that was the price of having it installed by someone. It takes 30 mins. max!

You know what? If anyone who lives in Eastern PA or western NJ wants this done, I'll install it with them for NOTHING just have all the parts - oh and buy me lunch

I just didn't want some Circuit City teenager goofin' around in my car, thats why I did myself.

I thought about doing it myself, but by the time I would have bought the PAC separately, run around getting the male and female plugs and wired it, I think I would have spent more of my time by far than the price difference.

Instead I spent 15 minutes putting the unit in and programming it,and was ready to go. For me this convenience was well worth the money.

Seriously, Pinky's Mod is an SWI-3 with the label ripped off, a change of resistor, a Honda female plug, your head units male plug, and a relay wired to the mute lead.

Is it worth the difference in price? Well if you are someone who loves to tinker and have a decent understanding of basic electronics then no.

But if you'd rather spend the weekend driving rather than fiddling around you centre console then yes, by all means.
The one difference between you doing the harness and Pinky doing the harness is Pinky's company is a local rep for PAC. If something goes wrong, he has probably seen it or knows who to ask. The PAC module or more specifically the CPU in the PAC module is very sensitive to current. Too much and you'll find yourself working for weeks on a fix. Consider it an insurance policy.
