Pioneer Deh-P9400BH
I've been looking for related topics but havent found much. All i've read was that itll work with modifry's dci. Im just upgrading the head unit without speaker upgrades.
Im looking for more reviews about this head unit before i make the purchase.
1. Crutchfield says install gear is included but do i need the install gears? its listed for 229.99 but from other places i can get it cheaper. So if i didnt need the install gear im going to get it somewhere else
INSTALL:
2. Flipping thorugh few threads show that i have to remove the center console. is there any wiring that needs to be done besides the back of the head unit?
3. Also Pioneer Deh-P9400BH has 2 USB's, was wondering what you guys did for the extra port
thanks

YMMV but this is what I do: buy head unit from Crutchfield, buy amps/speakers/subs elsewhere. Crutchfield is tough to beat for support and the free install gear and instructions (with pictures) are very, very worth it. They usually ship free also. You won't find many (any?) other online retailers that are authorized distributors for the head unit that will accept returns or allow you to use the factory warranty.
Use a wiring harness. Don't cut your factory wires. If you're just installing a head unit, the center console only needs to come up for a minute or two. All wiring is done behind the head unit's location.

So do i need the installation gear that comes with it? and also the wire that comes with it also??
The only "installation gear" you'll need is a wiring harness (Metra 70-1721 or Scosche HA08BCB). I'd recommend getting one from Best Buy or a local stereo shop instead of Walmart or Target, bc you're limited on space. The harnesses that you get from Walmart/Target usually have the dual/split end (contains both the old and new Honda harness). Other than that, you'll reuse the brackets from the stock radio, and wire in the the Modifry piece to retain your stock audio controls.
One thing I'll add is that many adapter harnesses do not have the
s2000-specific dash and mute wires, though I can't say for sure
whether the current Scosche, Metra, or Crutchfield harnesses do.
If you buy Modifry's adapter harness with your DCI it certainly does.

This is true; I upgraded my stereo and bought a Modifry DCI at the same time. I ended up using Modifry's harness (sold separately) instead of the one that shipped free from Crutchfield.

If you're not going to use any DCI, and thus willing to give up the dash controls,
then the Crutchfield adapter harness will work fine. It is possible to add wires
to most harnesses, so it would be possible to add a DCI later, though it is certainly
simpler to start with the correct adapter harness from day 1.
To do a simple headunit swap, there is nothing you need besides the adapter harness.
You'll need to move the mounting brackets from the OEM headunit to your new one, but
that just requires a screwdriver.

If you haven't already run across this thread it's a handy reference:

...and based on the question you're asking I'd strongly recommend considering an Alpine head unit and Modifry's PnP harness for Alpine. Otherwise we'll be reading posts from you asking about soldering and such.
