Default pioneer radio help

just got a pioneer (deh-p80mp)

i got a wire harness from circuit city for it but it will not work with it. it looks i will have to hard wire it.

does anyone have pics or diagrams of this done?

plus when i took the radio apart i noticed that there is the normal radio harness(light blue) and a white one. what is the wihte one for? the pioneer does not have an out let for the white harness.

i have a honda manual and the "white" harness is not mentioned in the book".

circuit city uses universal harnesses.
we sell the pioneer side for like another 17 bucks

just cut off the 2x10 pin whitish/clear harness and match up the wires.

soilder or crimp and your good to go.

This might help. It's a picture of a "stereo adapter", which is commonly used to plug into the car's factory harness (the blue connector) and provide wires to splice into your HU harness. The wire colors shown below are industry-standard and PROBABLY match the color of your head unit wires (most HU manufacturers follow this standard, but check to be sure).

The "Honda colors" in the drawing are the corresponding wire colors in the S2000 factory radio harness. You can use this to match up the wires that need to be spliced, but if I were you I'd go spend the $15-$20 and buy an adapter.

Modifry,

Im dissapointed in you not referring your DCI to him.

Quickystart, if your using the pioneer radio , you are going to need one of Modifry's
DCI's, which allow you to use the dash buttons to control the radio like the stock radio.

When you get the DCI, also get the wire harness, it makes wiring the radio so easy.

Yeah each DCI is specifically made for each manufacturer, so as long as you get a Pioneer DCI, it works. You have to get it, why let the dash controls go to waste?.

New dci's are also easier to install now since its directly wired to the radio, where as the older models used an IR transmitter.

Check them out here,

I can't recommend Modifry's DCI enough. I installed a Pioneer DEHP80MP this weekend with his wired DCI and it works flawlessly (although I am sorry I hooked up the ATT connection - it seems to confuse the Pioneer to get both the ATT signal and the one from the DCI signal cable. I will probably cut that connection next weekend...). The controls change slightly but once you get used to that its great. The wiring harness that you can get with the DCI has an extra two wires that you will want for hooking up the DCI. The harness that I got from crutchfield with my radio was identical but missing those wires.

The white plug is not needed. I would guess that it is there to make wiring in the CD changer and/or XM easier.

BTW - I replaced my speakers with Infinity Reference 6010cs components. They are not as expensive as some that you find people talking about here, but they sound pretty good without an external amp.

One more thing, see my thread about 'orange confusion'. You want to be sure to hook up the orange Illumination wire in the Honda harness to the orange/white ILL wire in the harness from the Pioneer, not the orange/white Dimmer wire. I don't know whether it would actually cause damage to hook up the dimmer wire, but there are appends in this forum and others that imply that it might.
