Have you tried mounting it next to the rear view mirror?

Were you able to pull that off with the mount that came with the Nuvi? I've got a Nuvi coming to me Xmas morning so i may do this or get Modifry's mount.

I didn't find this RAM mount in my search for a good way to attach the Nuvi but it looks like it would work (if it's the right size ball). Hopefully the Nuvi is too new and they haven't updated their web page to include it in the compatibility list. If you order one let us know if it fits the Nuvi. (it will bolt to my bracket (diagonally) on the existing holes)

I am in the process of making some ball-mounts that will fit the Nuvi but I won't be able to sell them for $5 because of the limited quantity and the amount of machine work involved. But maybe after you add the $5.69 shipping for the RAM mount I'll be more competitive.
Modifry,
I'll let you know, but it all depends on the wife and the holidays,

Do you think that the 4" mount will be better for the Nuvi 660?
or your 3" bracket

Since the 660 is basically 5" wide you'd need to mount the "ball" 1/2" from the right edge of the bracket in order to clear the dash. The RAM mount attaches to the existing holes in the dash bracket and must be mounted diagonally (it's too big to mount vertically), putting the ball mid-way between the hole pattern, or almost an inch from the right side. I don't think the 660 will fit like that.

Short answer - If you're going to use the RAM mount you need the 4" bracket.

The balls I'm building will mount in a single hole so you can either put it in the existing hole 1/4" from the right edge or drill your own hole and put it anywhere you want. Either way allows the 660 to fit on the 3" bracket.

The Nuvi 300 series will fit on the 3" bracket using the RAM mount.

I'm going to wait and see what your ball mount will look before I get the Nuvi 660
Please keep us posted with your progress,
and Thanks for all your hard work!
