Default Previous owner mutilated radio harness

Hey all,

I unfortunately have no clue what I'm looking at here. I bought the Modifry PNP harness cause I don't really enjoy electronics, not that I'm not capable of doing them. I went to do my radio today, only to be met with this hot mess.

P Cont? No clue what that is.

Ok, it's got a Sub wire.

Ok, it's the antenna.

Ok, they mutilated the radio harness. How do I fix this?

Help?

At this point my advice to you would be to bring the car to a competent car audio/electronics installer. This can be easily fixed, but if you're not really into electronics and/or have some of the tools necessary it's going to cause you more pain than it's worth.

A proper repair would be to source a replacement OEM radio connector pigtail. I believe aftermarkets make these as well, but it would take some research. You'd then solder, splice, & heatshrink the wires. This is the correct way to do this. Even more in-depth would be to essentially start over entirely by sourcing just the connector shell itself and the pins, stripping the wire, crimping new pins on, and then pin them into the connector housing in the correct locations. This is more difficult, and your OEM harness would be a little shorter, but this doesn't matter with a PnP adapter harness like the Modifry.

I really hate seeing shit like this....There was no need for the radio to have been wired like that.....If they wanted to convert to RCAs there was plenty of ways to do it that didn't involve hacking the OEM harness to bits.

Sorry man. If you lived in CT or somewhat local I'd be more than willing to fix this for you for free....

Live in Idaho

I'll go to my local reputable car audio guys. I could probably fix this, but I really would just have it done and done.

Guess I'll get that sub and amp I've been talking about installing too....

The easiest fix, for you or your installer, is to use what's called a "reverse harness."
Two examples for the s2000 are:
Metra 71-1721 Metra 71-1721
Scosche HA08RB Scosche HA08RB

Splicing it in is generally easy, though it is possible that these generic harnesses used
for a bunch of Honda models lack the s2000-specific dash switch and mute wires - it's
not difficult to add wires & pins to the connector, but may be yet another reason to
outsource the job.
