Default price estimate

hey guys quick question--

i have a box with 1 JL audio 10" sub with custom enclosure that fits perfectly in the trunk. i also have an alpine amp.

i brought it to a shop to get an estimate for install and they quoted me $220 to install the box and amp (and also for new wires)

does this sound fair to you? at first they said $150--and than they say, "oh its an s2000, we have to bump the price up.

thanks in advance-mike.

Are they installing the box or building it and installing it?

If your price includes an amp install kit thats prob not too bad, kit being $75 to $120 of that.

150 is reasonable. However, I can take the s2000 apart in 20 minutes. A shop that doesnt have much experience with the s2000 might take a good deal longer.

I'd say that's a fair price, especially if they're including wiring.

Wait, there some big factors that can change the price. Wheres the amp going to be mounted and is it a factory deck your running? 4 gauge kit, what kind of RCA's?

thanks for the replies---

the sub enclosure was already built (i bought it off a member on s2ki)

i have an alpine head unit already, and they are mounting the amp in the trunk.

i actually just got my car back from the shop (paid $220). i guess i could have shopped around, but it was a clean install and sounds great!

now i just need to get some dynamats to get rid of this damn rattling!

Sorry but you got ripped off. Shouldn't have paid more than $60 for the amp install and $100 MAX for a 4 gauge amp kit. And just like NFRs2000NYC said, it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to take it apart. I'm a professional installer and the S2000 has to be one of the most install friendliest cars I've worked on.
