Hey all.

So my 2000 AP1 has the little LED by the handbrake, and a little switch under the dash. Based on searching it appears I have the dealer installed security system. The normal key fob relearn process doesn't work for me. I found in an old thread a link to a file no longer in existence, which apparently would show you how to make the fob work with the system. Sadly, I can't find it again for reference, but does anyone know how to work around this system? A working key fob would be awesome. lol

Any luck? I have the same dilemma. My car has the OEM security system and the keyless entry is a different entity.

I did get it to work after taking the driver seat out and fiddling with the brain box under the seat. I wish I could tell you what I did, but it literally just started to work completely on its own. I know that is extremely unhelpful lol

Basically, I moved the switches around and unplugged it and plugged it back in. Once it was all connected and put back in the car, it has been working since. Over 2 years later now.

In a car with an alarm, the fob communicates with the alarm control unit, which in turn
sends lock/unlock commands via wire to the keyless entry module, which does the actual
locking/unlocking.
In Carl's case, he probably had a bad connection between the alarm and keyless modules,
which was fixed by unplugging & replugging.
To help troubleshoot:
Did the fob formerly work, or never since you've owned the car?
Does the fob arm/disarm the alarm? If so, the fob is communicating fine with the alarm,
but the alarm may not be communicating with the keyless entry.

 

I'm resurrecting this thread because after 16 years of ownership, I just ran into this problem. I had the OEM security system installed when I bought the car in 2004. All these years later, one of the two key fobs has stopped working - both my wife and I drive the car, so two fobs is better than one. Since I know the system is still functioning, is there a process that will reconnect the non-stop working fob?

 

If you've checked the basics (fob battery good?), here's a link to what looks like a generic Honda security system

Ive bought those generic honda ones from ebay that look identical to our fobs and Ive successfully programmed them into the stock alarm system. It's pretty easy you just need to go through the steps. These should help:
