Default Proximity Sensor interference w/ radar detectors

Every since switching to my S2K, I've had way too many detector problems w/ excessive falsing, almost to the point where I wondered if I'd be better off w/o a detector.

I sold my V1, disclosing that it might need a tune up, and ordered a new one. While waiting for the new one to arrive, I used my Passport 7500, which was false-free. The new V1 exhibited the same problems as the old one, however, so I decided not to keep it.

I then tried a friend's 8500, and it was quiet. Ordered one, and mine it was noisier than the V1! At this point, I was truly frustrated. I tried the coiled cord to see if the direct wire might be the source of the problem. While taking it down, still powered, I inadvertently pointed it toward the center console, and it went nuts! The prox. sensor was emitting Ka-band signals!

I took it to Custom Sounds yesterday, and they re-wired it so it's deactivated while driving. The 8500 now works great, though I'm not sure I'd have been motivated to sell my original V1 had I known what the problem was. So far, Custom Sounds hasn't seen this problem elsewhere, however. Has anybody else experienced this?

Also, Custom Sounds mentioned a black S2000 that they installed a 6.5" sub in the passenger footwell. They said it sounds great. Anybody on the list? I'd love to hear it!

What brand of alarm with the proximity do you have installed? Thanks.

No, Audio Dimensions. I don't see any HH's on the calendar. Where are they posted?

I'll try to make the next HH.

That really sucks about your proximity sensor. I've been looking into getting one installed, but I also have a V1. I'm rethinking the situation.

It's fixed now...I wouldn't let that potential issue discourage you from having one installed.
