Default Is proximity sensor needed?

Wanted to get some opinions.
I just bought an 05 S2K and the first thing I want to do is add an alarm.
I am debating between Viper and Compustar, but the main question I have is is he proximity sensor worth it?
It seems some shops hate them and won't install them?
How reliable are they

It is, just getting it tuned in right takes alot of patience. Make sure your installer does the job right, as in not just shoving the brain under the dash. An alarm is useless if the install is half ass and you want to spend the money for the right alarm and right install.

A 2-way system is what you want. It will also alert your key chain if anyone tampers with the car.

Things you will want: 2 way alarm, battery back up, 2 hood trigger pins, proximity sensor, 2 tilt sensors, GPS module

What state are you in?

Proximity sensor will alarm whenever something is too close to your vehicle or someone reaches inside. I love it when I leave the car parked with the top down. However it's very sensitive.
ie: I left the top down and went in the store and the alarm started going off.
Why? Because the kitsch dragon head I have hanging on the rear view mirror was blowing in the wind.
My neighbors hate it. When they pull up next to my car without fail it goes off. Of course it's adjustable but I like it sensitive like that. The neighbors all keep their distance. No one has ever f'd with my car on the street and I live in a major US city known for such nonsense.
Some shops don't like to install them because they will need to adjust the sensitivity (probably several times) to your liking. I love mine

We've all heard a car alarm. Anyone ever seen anyone do anything about it? Me neither.

Yup! Got so bad there (mid 2000s), that I got phased them out. Didn't even hear them.
